The Aston Martin Cygnet is a really surprising move for Aston Martin. It´s based on the new Toyota IQ but it´s made by Aston Martin. This is a pre-production prototype, very similar to the final model. They ´ll be start producing it in 2010, according to Aston Martin.
Right now Aston Martin is a high profile brand that only sales stylish convertibles and coupes. In Spain the simplest Aston you can buy ( Vantage V8) has 428 hp and it costs more than 133.000 euros. Aston Martin has build a well recon brand based on exclusivity, sporty and stylish cars. The Cygnet is a micro car worth 22.000 euros (The Toyota IQ starts at 11.000 e). The idea is to start selling this car only to Aston owners and then to the general public.
